Advanced Vascular Surgery: Anatomical Approaches Workshop

This two day cadaveric workshop will provide Consultants in General Surgery and Advanced General Surgical Trainees, Consultants in Vascular Surgery and Intermediate and Advanced Vascular Surgical Trainees with 100% dissection time and the opportunity to learn new skills and practice performing unique and complicated vascular exposures.    

Topics

Examples of exposures which will be included are:
Thoracoabdominal
Thoracotomy
Distal internal carotid with mandibular subluxation
Vertebral
Retroperitoneal aorta
Lateral popliteal
Major visceral arterial and venous exposures

Suitable for:

Consultants in Vascular Surgery,  Advanced and Intermediate Vascular Trainees. Consultants in General Surgery and Advanced General Surgical Trainees.  Limited positions are available for Theatre Nurses in assisting and scrubbing for workshop participants and limited Observer positions are also available.

2017 Simulation Workshop 3

On behalf of General Surgeons Australia and the Victorian/Tasmanian Training Committee, it is with pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 2017 Simulation Workshops.

There will be three simulation workshops on offer for trainees and IMGs to attend which is being coordinated by Dr Kate Martin. Each workshop is convened by an expert in the field.

As these workshops are being offered free of charge, we anticipate that they will be extremely popular. Places will be offered on a first-come first served basis.

Note: Due to the workshops being offered free of charge, any Trainee or IMG who registers but does not attend will be prohibited from attending any future simulation workshops.

GSA is hosting an information sessions for Junior Doctors wishing to apply for the SET Program in General Surgery in 2018. This session will offer you the opportunity to hear more about General Surgery as a career from Fellow General Surgeons and Trainees on the pathway to Fellowship.

These information sessions will provide Junior Doctors with an outline of what they can expect when applying for the SET Program in General Surgery, CV criteria, interview outline, and time frames. You will have the chance to ask questions and be involved with discussions about the upcoming process.

Two sessions will run, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney, these sessions will be replicated and you only need to attend one.
