GSA 2018 Victorian Trainees’ Weekend

The 2018 Trainees’ Weekend will focus on key areas of the General Surgery curriculum including Breast, HPB, Trauma, Melanoma and Sarcoma. Trauma, Melanoma and Sarcoma are areas which Trainees and IMGs may have limited access to during their training. This weekend is designed to bridge this gap and allows Trainees and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) the opportunity for exposure to these vital areas of General Surgery.

The GSA Victorian Trainees’ Weekend is an annual event that is designed as an intensive learning experience for all General Surgery SET Trainees and IMGs. The three-day program will cover carefully selected topics from the curriculum, with presenters focusing on their approach to various conditions through the use of the following:

• case scenarios
• video demonstrations
• digital imaging
• small group discussions
• interactive lectures
• quiz based sessions
• participation in simulation activities

The weekend is a great opportunity to step outside of the usual routine and into an informal setting, providing Trainees and IMGs with the valuable knowledge of Consultant General Surgeons.
