61st Victorian Annual Surgical Meeting

  • Surgical Oncology Synergy
  • Albury Entertainment Centre, Albury NSW
  • 12 October 2019
*Abstract sumbission process closes Tuesday 12 July - visit surgeons.org/victoria/vic-asm to find out more.*

The Victorian Annual Surgeons Meeting (Vic ASM) is an opportunity for both accomplished and  aspiring surgeons from across Victoria, across specialties to gather for a scientific program. The meeting is held in alternate years in the city and a regional centre and professional development workshops are included as a part  of the program, prior to the formal opening of the meeting.

Typically, the theme of the meeting is explored through plenary sessions and symposia with invited and guest speakers, providing a forum for lively discussions between speakers and delegates.

Scientific research is also presented at the meeting: the Call for Abstracts attracted a high number of submissions in 2018, with 33 being accepted for presentation - 9 oral and 24 poster presentations. This provides an important platform for trainees, IMGs, junior doctors and medical students to present their research.  Prizes and awards, including the DCAS scholarship are offered in four categories, judged by a panel of surgeons at the meeting. In 2019 the presented abstracts will be published online in the ANZ Journal of Surgery.
