CTEC’s Advanced Vascular Surgery: Anatomical Approaches Workshop

CTEC’s two day workshop with 100% dissection time will provide surgeons and trainees with the opportunity to learn new skills and practice performing unique and complicated vascular exposures crucial for vascular training.  It is suitable for Consultants in Vascular and General Surgery, Intermediate and Advanced Vascular Trainees, and Advanced General Surgical Trainees.

This workshop utilises superior teaching models – fresh frozen cadavers which have undergone arterial gelatine injection to enhance arterial/venous discrimination.  There will be two participants per cadaver.  Pre-reading will be provided so all workshop time is spent on dissection.  The sessions are fully interactive with an emphasis placed on knowledgeable faculty who provide superior training and immediate feedback in a practical and controlled workshop environment.  An Anatomist will be part of the Faculty to assist with immediate advice and guidance.

Workshop Content

Examples of exposures which will be included are:

• Thoracoabdominal
• Thoracotomy
• Distal internal carotid with mandibular subluxation
• Vertebral
• Retroperitoneal aorta
• Lateral popliteal
• Major visceral arterial and venous exposures

Please note that this workshop will not cover techniques of vascular surgery nor commonly used approaches to the abdominal aorta, carotid and common femoral which is covered in other courses.
