Practical sessions feature a dedicated work station for each participant, with assistance provided by a medical student camera operator.

Suitable for:

Workshop Content

The workshop will focus on the following tasks:

  • Principles of laparoscopic surgery and access
  • Handling of suture material and needle
  • Intracorporeal knot tying
  • Intracorporeal suturing

Practical Animal Tissue Based Surgical Skill Stations

Participants will undertake the following procedures:

  • Advanced laparoscopic suturing techniques (utilising tissue)
  • Laparoscopic repair of perforation and patch repair

This workshop utilises a range of animal tissue and synthetic models for the practical skill stations.  The workshop will also feature case scenarios and discussions, whilst also allowing sufficient time to practise skills.

2024 Simulation Workshop 2

On behalf of General Surgeons Australia and the Victorian/Tasmanian Training Committee, it is with pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 2024 Simulation Workshops.

There will be three simulation workshops on offer for trainees and SIMGs to attend which are being coordinated by Dr Fiona Reid and Dr Yuen Chiu Kang. Each workshop is convened by experts in the field.

As these workshops are being offered free of charge, we anticipate that they will be extremely popular. Places will be offered on a first-come first served basis.
