Information about the guideline

The guideline update was commissioned and funded by the Department of Health Commonwealth of Australia, and it has been overseen by a multidisciplinary working party with input from subcommittees.

The guideline recommendations were approved by the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) on 07 Nov 2018 under section 14A of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992. A short-form summary of the guidance is available to download from the home page of the guideline.

The guideline aims to provide clear guidance on the diagnosis and management of keratinocyte cancers in the Australian population, based on current scientific evidence, in order to reduce morbidity (and, potentially, mortality) from these cancers. Systematic reviews and modelling were performed to answer clinical questions.
